Even Keel Canberra District Shiraz Viognier 2006
“Vibrant bright fruit, layered flavours , good acidity and judicious use of viognier. This is a nicely balanced wine with a lot of promise.”
Even Keel Canberra District Shiraz Viognier 2006, May 2008 Canberra Times, Fergus McGhie
“The Even Keel wines source from the best areas. There’s a Tumbarumba chardonnay and a Clare riesling in the range too. It’s significant that its red is a Canberra district shiraz viognier. Soft and juicy, there’s plenty of berry fruits in the mix. The palate has suppleness about its texture with just enough tannin to hold it together”.
Even Keel Canberra District Shiraz Viognier 2006, Wine Companion 2010 James Halliday
“Bright crimson-purple, perfumed fruit with some spicy notes; very firm tannins and positive acidity; needs time; but will handsomely repay it, 90 points”
Even Keel Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir 2008, April 2008, Winefront Campbell Mattison
"It smells sweet, almost blueberried or Turkish delight-like. It’s rather simple but rather inviting. In the mouth it’s light and tannic but nicely juicy, with complexing notes of hay and woodsmoke. There’s a lovely, easy-going fruitines here, matched well to a good tannic backbone. Lovely drinking. An Aussie version of a good village style."
Even Keel Tumbarumba Chardonnay 2008, April 2009, Winefront Campbell Mattison
Even Keel make a range of wines from a range of different Australian wine regions. As a business idea I like it.
This is a bright, tasty, balanced chardonnay oozing immediate appeal - but with the length and substance to hold tight in the bottle for at least a few years. Lemons, nectarines, nuts and a shading of (attractive) milk powder - a flavour profile I very much enjoy drinking. Excellent zing through the finish too”
Even Keel Tumbarumba Chardonnay 2006, Wine Companion 2010 James Halliday
“Pale green-straw; cool-grown fruit helps invest the wine with elegance captured by quality winemaking and use of French oak; delicious nectarine and citrus fruit on the long palate and finish, 93 points”
Even Keel Tumbarumba Chardonnay 2006, July 2008, Winefront Campbell Mattison
“This is tight and fine and flavoursome - and excellent value. It's stacked with grapefruit and lemon zest-like flavour, its waxy, toasty oak clipped and contained within the wine's strong acid/fruit framework. It is clearly a wine of outstanding quality - what it really needs though is another 12-18 months in the bottle. Drink: 2009-2013. 93 points.”
Even Keel Tumbarumba Chardonnay 2006, The Penguin good Australian wine guide 2009; Nick Stock
“This smart little cool-climate chardonnay has some nut and spice complexity across its pear fruit aromas; it all sits up nice and bright on the nose. The palate’s a crisp and restrained shape, plenty of pear fruit flavour and savoury oak through the finish”
Even Keel TumbarumbaChardonnay 2006, April 2008 Canberra Times, Fergus McGhie
“Don’t go looking for the winery in Tumbarumba because there isn’t one; it’s in Mornington. Even Keel sources its fruit from the best-suited vineyards, no matter where. This chardonnay is perfect. A lean, minerally style, with plenty of zesty, citrus acidity and subtle layers of unobtrusive oak, you’ll find it on good restaurant lists, or on the website, ***** Stars $$$$$”.
Even Keel Orange Region Sauvignon Blanc 2007, Wine Companion 2010 James Halliday
“Ever so faintly sweaty aromas well within varietal bounds; very pleasing passionfruit/tropical fruit flavours, 90points”
Even Keel Clare Valley Riesling 2008, Wine Companion 2010 James Halliday
“A substantial wine, true Clare Valley terroir; ripe citrus flavours and a firm finish, 90 points”
Even Keel Botrytis Riesling 2006 (375ml) AWB100 magazine March 2009, Nick Stock
“A blend of 85% riesling and 15% semillon from the Canberra District showing plenty of botrytis influence and noble riesling character. The palate is striking for its textural qualities, super smooth, fine and keenly defined sweet lime and stone fruit flavours. Nice balance to close, 91 points”

EVEN KEEL TUMBARUMBA CHARDONNAY 2006
“An elegant chardonnay full of tropical fruits like grapefruit and stonefruit. There’s a nice touch of oak structure; it’s full and creamy, yet not too buttery, with crisp acidity. It would age beautifully – if only you can restrain yourself from drinking it “.
EVEN KEEL ORANGE REGION SAUVIGNON BLANC 2007,
”A dazzling sauv blanc made in a small cropping vintage but from powerful fruit. The high altitude has produced amazing acidity. It’s got the distinct tropical and grassy notes to tempt, and the palate is clean and oh so fresh”.
